Across-the-Board Pay Raises:
University health science employees were left out of the statewide across-the-board pay raises - forcing each institution to find raise money from their own budget. UHSEU members fought hard against this exclusion and are still fighting to get a real across-the-board pay raise for all university health science employees.

Affordable Health Care:
Every year, co-pays and premiums for University health science employees go up, eating up any small, scattered pay raises. UHSEU members are fighting to get real funding for affordable health care.

Secure Retirement:
We are seeing constant attacks on our retirement benefits. In January 2005, the legislative Budget Board floated a plan to cut retirees off the prescription drug benefit - forcing our retirees onto Medicare. During this session, HB 1691 threatened current and future TRS retirees with significant cuts!

Health Science Funding:
During the recent legislative session, our elected officials told our institutions that they will have to make do with less. If Texas wants top-notch health care and scientific research, we need more funding for our institutions.
